CRS is used for the determination of magnitude and rate of consolidation of saturated cohesive soil. Using continuous controlled strain axial compression. The specimen restrained laterally and drained axially to one surface. The axial force and the base excess pressure are measured during deformation and the controlled strained compression is typically referred as constant rate of strain testing.
